Portfolio
Drag Ball - Burlington, VT
I’ve worked production on ‘Winter Is a Drag, Ball’ in Burlington, VT for the last decade. It is a multi stage fundraising event for Vermont Cares, formally the People With AIDS Coalition, boasting around 1300 attendees with multiple performances by dancers, entertainers, and musicians. For this event my company provides decor and lighting design for the event. In addition I fully manage one stage for a cabaret show with around 15 acts.
Big Gay Hudson Valley
Big Gay Hudson Valley is a queer owned company that hosts a number of events around the Hudson Valley, in New York, bringing the lgbtq community in the area together since around 2008. From pre-pride events, Queer Social Nights, bringing former Drag Race stars for performances and their annual Holiday Burlesque Show. I’ve helped them create their vision for each event and to make sure each goes smoothly. Acting as technical director for the larger theater shows, they rely on me to guide my team through each event. We provide sound, lighting, event management, and take care of the performing talents.
Hudson Valley Pride
The LGBTQ Center in Kingston, NY has been a big part of my work since joining the event industry. We help facilitate their 2 largest events: the ‘Spring Gala’, which is their largest fundraising event of the year and the ‘Hudson Valley Pride March and Festival’, held in New Paltz, NY. We provide a DJ’d float as the head of the march as well as run audio for the acts at the main festival tent.
Field & Supply
Field & Supply is a large craft fair consisting of 2 pavilions and a field of over 200 vendors. I have successfully run their stage for the 3 day event that happens twice a year. The stage has 3-4 bands and musicians of varying sizes each day. I am responsible for the sound engineering and design for the whole festival area. Furthermore, I coordinate the band changeover for each day of the festival as well as providing audio for discussion panels at varying locations.
Weddings
I have vast experience in weddings of varying sizes up to 500 guest, often ranging over multiple days. It is quite common that first we are hired as sound & light technicians and DJs for the wedding, but during the planning phase or the actual event we step in and fix issues that creep up or event management that has gone wrong. We are quite known in upstate New York to guarantee stress free weddings for the bride, because we often go far and beyond to remove troubles in whatever way possible.
A typical example includes a recent wedding where a DJ only hired me to set up a full DJ booth and lighting setup to be delivered for a full wedding day, but was informed the night before the event that the wedding planner had unexpectedly passed away. Once on site, I offered my expertise in running a wedding as I have done hundreds in the past and this would be my third that weekend. I quickly found whom I needed to gather the correct information for names of introductions and the general traditional wedding items of the evening plus a few cultural dances. I helped guide the wedding party, the photographers and catering staff for timing, dances and general flow of the evening. What was to be a simple rental turned into an emceeing and coordination gig for me.
Musical events, artist performances, shows, weddings, and night clubs all require quick thinking, problem solving, and a "Yes can do" attitude, as these often make or break important events in people's lives, or maybe can ruin a persons only day off from work and chance to relax.
